- Assignment: 2CT was commissioned to undertake an inspection of an existing facade installation to help the employer establish the likely cause of panel failures.
- What we did: Our team completed a review of the initial design and recorded information before undertaking an intrusive inspection on-site providing a report documenting the As-Built condition. Our report considered the installation against the original design intent, the manufacturer’s product literature and testing, and the structural principles of facade installations. Our report is shared in a written format with marked-up photos and drawings, supported by a tracker sheet which schedules each observation, concern, or request for clarification. The sheet provided our client with a management tool for the remediation review. We have completed subsequent inspections, and witnessing on site and with all observations collated within our global tracker. Our team act to provide our client with an understanding of the facade, the principles of the design intent, and how those principles have been constructed on-site. This enables our client to efficiently deal with the problem rather than getting caught up in the technicalities of it. We provide independent advice and reporting along with management tools.
- Conclusion: Our survey and report help our client to identify the likely cause of the facade failure. The information was provided in an easy to follow format, with a supporting tracker sheet highlighting different risk groups, and their risk ratings. Our information enabled our client to make informed decisions to more effectively deal with the problems.
