Thermography is a non-intrusive diagnostic tool used to detect potential problems with the construction of buildings.

Using thermal imaging cameras, temperature variations across a surface can be identified. Thermography is crucial for assessing building performance for both modern and traditional buildings. A thermographic survey allows issues to be identified quickly without creating damage caused by physical intrusion.

Thermography can identify:

Insufficient insulation - Cold spots on walls, ceilings, floors which can lead to a loss of performance and discomfort for occupants.
Air leakage - Air infiltration through cracks, gaps or poorly sealed areas in the building’s fabric can be located through thermal imaging allowing problem areas to be located.
Moisture issues - Water ingress & damp can lead to mould growth and structural damage to the property. Thermography can identify moisture issues though temperature variation.
Heat losses and leaks in roofs - Thermal imaging will identify poor or missing insulation, damaged roofing materials, missing tiles & water ingress.
Cold Bridging - Cold bridging can occur from differing conductive properties of materials used during construction. Typically, these can happen around openings, window lintels, studs, columns, floor beams, service penetrations etc. resulting in a loss of thermal performance. Cold bridges can be identify through thermography allowing targeted improvements.
